Fair point. You know I'm not actually sure how long I'll live now? I mean, I know I'm a bird in most ways but with time being so screwy in the Dreaming, I don't even know if aging is a thing.
Not sure if he's the one to ask. It's weird to think about her as anything but an ageless dream creature, but I get the feeling that Lucienne has been around a while and seen the other ravens that came before me.
Tell Lucienne to come by the club sometime. I can't say I've met an ageless dream creature before, yourself possibly notwithstanding. There's only one raven at a time, then?
The wild part is that you probably met her already. Well, you did in dreams that is. She's the librarian of this crazy-big library of every book their authors had dreamed of but never had written.
Oh I'm calling bullshit on that. I know that you both sleep and dream at least a little bit. An MRI of a sleeping brain still shows some activity during REM sleep. You'd have a psychotic break otherwise.
I didn't say I never sleep, I said I do it as little as possible and I've never recalled dreaming about libraries. And I do find it an annoyance each time it happens.
Yeah, well I don't remember shit about a library so not sure what good that does me.
[He's had nothing but nightmares for years, on those nights he can't just work himself into such an exhausted state he doesn't remember anything. Which also isn't Matthew's fault. Kaz doesn't apologize, but he does blow out a breath and tries to find more neutral ground as a conciliatory gesture.]
What about you, do you still even have to sleep or dream?
Since I am a dream, I don't even feel the need for sleep. If I did dream that would be some weird M.C. Esher type of stuff. I can go between dreams - or whatever bit of psychic real estate that Dream is on - and the waking world. Gotta say I wished I hadn't gone through Hell with him, though.
He wanted me to follow a human girl in the waking world. Which wasn't as hands-off as it sounds, I could feel him in the back of my head the whole time. It's the weirdest feeling.
I'm certainly feeling better and better as an employer myself. I can at least trust my crew to go out and be my eyes for me in the figurative rather than literal sense.

[It sounds nice, though. He loves books and libraries.]
Mostly I sleep as little as possible. There's too much to do and personally I find it nothing more than a bodily annoyance.

If I was you I certainly would have gotten the fine print regarding the job before taking any business trip.

I've seen the expression my secrets keeper used to give me sometimes when I annoyed her. Very glad I wasn't reading her mind at those moments.
